Saying "some" in French: "du", "de la", "des" (1) Each of the questions below asks you to make a phrase involving the French for 'some'. Remember that to say 'some' in French, you generally use "du" before a masculine word, "de la" before a feminine word and "des" before a plural word. Remember that before a vowel, "de l'" is used instead of "de la".
